Job Title: Lecturer in Medicine
About the Job
The objective of this position is to contribute to the development, delivery, and administration of RCSI Bahrain’s medical program by participating in the teaching and examinations of students, thus enhancing RCSI Bahrain’s excellence in Health Education.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching:
- Deliver instruction to Year 1-5 medical students, which includes case-based learning (CBL) tutorials, lectures, physical examination sessions, simulated case histories, and bedside tutorials as needed.
- Formulate, structure, and participate in remedial teaching and the Revision Course for students who have not passed their end-of-year exams during July and August.
- Develop simulated case histories for both teaching and examination purposes.
- Monitor and report on students' progress, achievements, and attendance, particularly any issues regarding student absence or concerns about academic performance to the Head of Department.
- Contribute to the organization and management of the Medicine teaching program.
- Participate in clinical and educational research projects within the Department of Medicine.
Assessment:
- Conduct and mark examinations, including supplemental exams for students in Years 1-5, as requested by the Head of Department or Nominee.
- Assist in the Summative Examinations (TOSBAs, OSCEs, and Long Cases) for Year 3, Year 4, and Year 5 students.
- Contribute to creating multiple-choice questions for assessments in Years 1-5.
- Participate in oral examinations for students in Years 1-5.
- Reserve examination dates in personal diary/calendar once they are published to ensure participation.
Student Mentoring:
- Provide pastoral care, mentorship, and support in developing research projects for students.
- Participate in the Personal Tutor Program to support student well-being and academic development.
General:
- Serve as a liaison between Clinical Educators and the Head of Department regarding workload distribution, teaching assignments, and addressing any arising issues.
- Attend administrative and academic meetings relevant to clinical teaching.
- Provide regular feedback to the Head of Department on program content and curriculum development, assisting in implementing beneficial changes.
- Ensure adherence to all RCSI Bahrain policies and procedures.
- Participate in professional development programs/workshops on medical education, including weekend-intensive training modules in relevant specialties.
- Familiarize oneself with the RCSI Bahrain Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
Requirements
Personal Specifications:
- M.B.B.S Degree is essential.
- MRCP / MPCS and MSc in medicine or a cognate discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of clinical experience.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Ability to focus on and produce results while prioritizing objectives.
- Ability to deliver learning objectives appropriately and meet deadlines.

التقييم:
- المشاركة في إجراء وتصحيح الامتحانات، بما في ذلك الامتحانات التكميلية لطلاب السنة الأولى إلى الخامسة، حسب طلب رئيس القسم أو المندوب.
- المساعدة في الامتحانات النهائية (TOSBAs، OSCEs، والحالات الطويلة) للطلاب في السنة الثالثة، الرابعة، والخامسة.
- المساهمة في إنشاء أسئلة متعددة الخيارات للاختبارات في السنوات 1-5.
- المشاركة في الامتحانات الشفوية لطلاب السنة الأولى إلى الخامسة.
- حجز تواريخ الامتحانات في المفكرة الشخصية بمجرد نشرها لضمان المشاركة في الامتحانات.
إرشاد الطلاب:
- تقديم الرعاية الشخصية، والإرشاد، والدعم في تطوير المشاريع البحثية للطلاب.
- المشاركة في برنامج المعلم الشخصي لدعم رفاهية الطلاب وتطورهم الأكاديمي.
عام:
- العمل كحلقة وصل بين المعلمين السريريين ورئيس القسم فيما يتعلق بتوزيع عبء العمل، وتكليفات التدريس، ومعالجة أي قضايا قد تظهر.
- حضور الاجتماعات الإدارية والأكاديمية المتعلقة بالتعليم السريري.
- تقديم ملاحظات منتظمة لرئيس القسم حول محتوى البرنامج وتطوير المنهج، والمساعدة في تنفيذ التغييرات المفيدة.
