The Consulting Engineer 3 is responsible for driving technology design, implementation, execution, and optimization for customer projects/accounts. This role works closely with customers to plan, design, configure, and diagnose Cisco's suite of products, services, and solutions to accelerate customer outcomes. Journeyman Technician
Job Overview
Our team has an opening for a Journeyman Technician position in Bahrain. This position will support the sustainment and modernization of various automated digital network systems (ADNS), including Consolidated Afloat Network and Enterprise Services (CANES), Combined Enterprise Regional Information Exchange System (CENTRIXS), Integration Shipboard Networking System (ISNS), Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Networks, and others. The technician will work closely with both government and civilian management teams in the area to coordinate tasks, ship visits, and priorities related to the SPAWAR-fielded Tactical Networks in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
Key Responsibilities
-
Perform a wide range of tasks, including system installations, system sustainment, upgrades, distance support, configuration management enforcement, and emergent Casualty Report (CASREP) support as needed to maintain the readiness of servers, networking devices, workstations, storage devices, and other peripheral equipment.
-
Conduct root cause analysis when issues are encountered and recommend permanent configuration changes to the shipboard networks to support mission requirements.
-
Coordinate support with the StratasCorp Technician Dispatcher team, shipboard crews, external contractors, and/or vendors, as needed, to troubleshoot intra-system issues and assist with system integration design development.
-
Interface with and direct customers on the proper approach to maintaining shipboard networks and associated equipment.
-
Perform administrative tasks such as attending technical meetings, reporting status and progress, and preparing and submitting data to be used in reports and data calls.
Qualifications

Must possess a current IAT II or higher security certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01M and be able to obtain the appropriate Computing Environment certification within 6 months of hire.

Must have 5 years or more of progressive IT experience in an enterprise-scale environment, with an entry-level knowledge of CANES; additional knowledge and experience in the following areas are desired: ADNS, CENTRIXS, ISNS, SCI networks, Windows Server administration, Cisco networking device administration.

Must be able to travel to Chesapeake, VA for up to one month at the beginning of the assignment for hands-on training with shipboard technicians.

Must be available to work overtime as required to meet ship schedules.
