 Senior Engineer (Microtunnelling Experience)

Position Overview:

Joseph Gallagher Limited is looking for a skilled Senior Engineer with extensive expertise in microtunnelling to join our team. You will play a critical role in delivering complex infrastructure projects, with opportunities to work internationally. This position involves working on early contractor involvement (ECI) schemes, preconstruction works, and feasibility studies. Strong report-writing skills and excellent communication abilities are essential. Experience in segmental tunnelling and horizontal directional drilling (HDD) is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership:

  • Plan, design, and execute microtunnelling projects.
  • Develop construction methodologies, assist in design, and specify microtunnelling equipment.
  • Analyse geotechnical data to optimise designs for project requirements.

• Project Delivery:

  • Oversee microtunnelling projects from concept to completion.
  • Provide expertise during the early stages of project planning in ECI schemes.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and consultants for seamless project delivery.

• Report Writing and Communication:

  • Prepare detailed technical reports, feasibility studies, and project documentation.
  • Clearly convey technical concepts to stakeholders with varying technical expertise.
  • Provide regular updates and ensure alignment across all teams.

• Value-Added Expertise:

  • Utilise experience in segmental tunnelling and HDD to enhance project outcomes.
  • Implement innovative engineering solutions to overcome project challenges.

• Team Collaboration and Development:

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in microtunnelling with a strong project delivery record.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in report writing.
• In-depth knowledge of microtunnelling equipment, trenchless technologies, and geotechnical principles.

Desirable:

• Experience in segmental tunnelling and HDD.
• Familiarity with ECI schemes and feasibility studies.
• Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and project management tools.

General:

• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
