• Opsfleet is looking for a part-time ElasticSearch/OpenSearch Engineer to join our 50+ member professional services engineering team.

• This role is fully remote, ideal for someone with deep experience in search infrastructure, log analytics, and distributed data systems.

• The position involves working closely with engineering and delivery teams to support customers’ Elasticsearch/OpenSearch environments.

• You will ensure performance, stability, and scalability of Elasticsearch/OpenSearch environments while leading migration and optimization efforts.

• Responsibilities include deploying, configuring, and managing Elasticsearch/OpenSearch clusters in cloud and hybrid environments.

• Optimize indexing strategies, mapping schemas, and search/query performance.

• Implement best practices for shard allocation, replication, retention policies, and ILM (Index Lifecycle Management).

• Monitor performance with tools such as Kibana, OpenSearch Dashboards, Grafana, or custom scripts.

• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and data durability in production environments.

• Lead migrations and upgrades for Elasticsearch/OpenSearch across versions and platforms.

• Develop and execute migration plans with minimal downtime and zero data loss, ensuring rigorous pre-migration testing and post-migration validation.

• The company values long-term client relationships and does not engage in micro-management, focusing on proactive and creative engineers.

• The work mostly involves cloud-related DevOps tasks, particularly with AWS and Google Cloud.

• Experience with Kubernetes is essential, especially since the company has been using it since before it became production-ready.

• Key responsibilities include migrating manual cloud configuration to infrastructure-as-code using Terraform/Terragrunt, CloudFormation, and Crossplane.

• Dockerizing applications and integrating Docker logic into existing CI/CD pipelines is part of the role.

• The role requires solving day-one challenges, like setting up Kubernetes clusters, and day-two challenges such as performance optimization, cost reduction, and security practices.
