What You Will Do

As a Digital News Writer at LocalBH, you will be at the heart of creating viral content that resonates with the youth of Bahrain and the wider GCC. Your role will include breaking news, crafting compelling stories, and keeping up with the latest trends in pop culture. You will be responsible for writing across multiple formats, from Instagram captions to in-depth news pieces, all while collaborating closely with creatives to produce engaging visuals. Additionally, you will use SEO-smart editing to optimize your content for maximum reach and engagement, ensuring that your stories reach the right audience and keep them coming back for more.

Key Responsibilities

• Breaking Stories: Monitor local news, social media trends, and gather on-the-ground sources to turn raw information into publish-ready content quickly.

• Writing Across Formats: Craft compelling pieces for different platforms including Instagram captions, 200-word news flashes, 800-word explainers, and short-form video scripts.

• Collaborating with Creatives: Work with designers, videographers, and motion-graphics teammates to turn written content into visually engaging media.

• SEO-Smart Editing: Write captivating headlines and metadata that not only rank well but maintain a human tone.

• Engagement & Iteration: Track story performance in real-time, engaging with readers in the comments and adapting content for better reach.

• Championing Brand Voice: Keep LocalBH’s tone witty, inclusive, and aligned with Bahrain’s youth culture, while maintaining journalistic integrity.

• Off-Hours Duty: Share the responsibility for breaking news or major events outside of standard hours, ensuring that the news cycle doesn’t stop.

What Makes You a Fit

• Experience: 2+ years of writing for digital media, social-first publishers, or content-driven startups.

• Portfolio: A proven portfolio showcasing news articles, features, or social/video scripts.

• Language Skills: Fluent in English, with conversational Arabic being a strong plus.

• CMS Proficiency: Comfortable working in a fast-paced CMS like WordPress or Ghost, juggling multiple deadlines.

• Pop-Culture Savvy: A sharp eye for Middle Eastern youth culture, memes, and trends, knowing when a story will blow up before it’s trending.

• Editing Tools: Basic knowledge of photo/video editing tools like Canva, CapCut, or Adobe Express.

• Data-Driven: Familiarity with using Google Analytics and Instagram Insights to inform and improve your content.

Bonus Points

• Experience in covering F&B, lifestyle, or city-guide content within the GCC region.

• On-camera confidence for quick TikTok/Instagram Reels explainers.

• Knowledge of social media growth strategies, including hooks, retention curves, and call-to-actions (CTAs).

ككاتب محتوى رقمي في LocalBH، ستكون في قلب إنشاء محتوى يتفاعل مع شباب البحرين ومنطقة الخليج العربي. ستكون مسؤولًا عن نشر الأخبار العاجلة، وصياغة قصص مثيرة، ومواكبة أحدث الاتجاهات في ثقافة البوب. ستتولى كتابة المحتوى عبر منصات متعددة، من التدوينات القصيرة على إنستغرام إلى المقالات الإخبارية التفصيلية، مع العمل عن كثب مع الفريق الإبداعي لتحويل النصوص إلى محتوى بصري جذاب. كما ستكون مسؤولًا عن تحسين محركات البحث (SEO) لكتابة عناوين وصفية وجذابة لزيادة الوصول والتفاعل.

المسؤوليات الرئيسية

• نشر الأخبار العاجلة: متابعة الأخبار المحلية، ومراقبة وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، وجمع المصادر الميدانية لتحويل المعلومات الخام إلى محتوى جاهز للنشر بسرعة.

• الكتابة عبر منصات متنوعة: كتابة نصوص جذابة على منصات مختلفة مثل التدوينات القصيرة على إنستغرام، مقاطع الأخبار التي لا تتجاوز 200 كلمة، المقالات التوضيحية التي تتراوح من 800 كلمة، والنصوص لفيديوهات قصيرة.

• التعاون مع الفرق الإبداعية: العمل مع المصممين والمصورين والمبدعين في الرسوم المتحركة لتحويل النصوص إلى محتوى مرئي جذاب.

• التحرير الذكي لتحسين محركات البحث: كتابة عناوين ووصف جذابة تعمل على تحسين محركات البحث دون المساس بالطابع البشري للمحتوى.
