About the Role

Energy Exemplar is seeking a Senior Gas Market Analyst to join its specialized team developing and maintaining datasets for European power and gas markets. This role focuses on building accurate, simulation-ready datasets using the PLEXOS platform, with a particular focus on the natural gas and hydrogen markets. Responsibilities include analyzing market data, enhancing data quality, and applying predictive modeling to provide insights on the European energy transition.

Responsibilities
Calibrate dataset outputs and add forecast data to generate market analytics
Run simulations in PLEXOS and develop modeling scenarios
Collaborate with the technical team to identify, cleanse, and validate data sources
Specify data quality improvements and modeling methodology enhancements
Create and present calibration reports
Work with global gas and power dataset teams to standardize methodologies and integrate models
Review and curate energy market data from sources such as ENTSOG
Continuously improve the gas dataset and adapt it based on customer use cases
Document and communicate modeling results internally and externally
Participate in webinars, client demos, and dataset Q&A
Conduct research on energy market trends and provide thought leadership to clients

Requirements & Qualifications
Degree in Chemical Engineering, Energy Economics, Operations Research, Mathematics, or related field
Minimum 5 years’ experience in the gas industry with deep knowledge of systems, fundamentals, and economics
Experience building gas market or systems models
Basic understanding of gas systems planning (networks, EU decarbonization policies, etc.)
Knowledge of gas markets and related economics (trading, storage valuation, pricing mechanisms)
Ability to explain complex topics in a clear, simple way
Strong commercial and strategic awareness
Big-picture problem solver with strong analytical skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills, written and verbal
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects
Self-motivated, result-oriented, with a focus on quality
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred but Not Required
Familiarity with PLEXOS or similar mathematical optimization tools

معرفة بأساسيات الأسواق والاقتصاديات المتعلقة بالغاز (التجارة، التخزين، التسعير)
