Job Description: Solar Estimation Engineer

Industry: Renewable Energy / Solar Energy

Location: Bahrain

Reporting To: Operations Manager

Experience Required: 5+ years

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solar Estimation Engineer to join our team in Bahrain. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in solar energy systems, project estimation, and cost analysis, with a keen understanding of the local renewable energy landscape. As a key member of the operations team, you will be responsible for preparing precise and accurate solar system cost estimates, providing technical insights, and supporting the project management team to deliver successful solar installations on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cost Estimation:
  Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for solar projects, including the costs of materials, labor, equipment, and installation based on system size, location, and specific requirements.

• Site Assessments & Analysis:
  Conduct on-site assessments to gather data on solar feasibility, including solar irradiance, shading, roof conditions, and other key environmental factors. Prepare technical site reports to ensure system suitability.

• Design Collaboration:
  Work closely with the engineering team to provide input into the design of solar energy systems, ensuring that solutions are optimized for both cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

• Proposal Development:
  Develop detailed proposals for clients, including technical drawings, system specifications, equipment selections, and timelines. Assist in the preparation of bids for tender submissions.

• Vendor & Supplier Coordination:
  Liaise with vendors and suppliers to obtain material cost estimates, ensuring timely procurement of equipment and materials for project execution.

• Budget Control & Monitoring:
  Track project costs against initial estimates, providing regular updates to the Operations Manager. Work closely with project managers to ensure cost controls are in place and adhered to throughout project lifecycles.

• Risk & Opportunity Management:
  Analyze project risks related to cost, timeline, and procurement. Provide proactive recommendations to mitigate risks and explore cost-saving opportunities.

• Collaboration & Communication:
  Engage with internal teams (sales, engineering, project management) and external stakeholders (clients, subcontractors, suppliers) to ensure smooth communication and alignment of project goals.

• Regulatory Compliance:
  Stay updated with local regulations, codes, and incentives related to solar installations in Bahrain. Ensure all estimates and project designs adhere to these requirements.

• Documentation & Reporting:
  Maintain detailed records of all estimations, changes in scope, communications with vendors and clients, and project adjustments. Provide comprehensive reports to the Operations Manager as required.

Key Competencies & Skills:

• Technical Expertise:
  In-depth knowledge of solar energy systems, including photovoltaic (PV) systems, energy storage solutions, and inverters.
  Familiarity with solar design software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope, SAM, etc.).

• Estimating & Cost Management:
  Proven experience in cost estimation for solar energy projects.
  Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and cost control practices.

• Problem Solving & Analytical Skills:
  Ability to identify issues early in the estimation process and suggest corrective actions. Strong analytical mindset to ensure accurate system sizing and optimization.

• Project Management & Coordination:
  Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  Ability to collaborate with different departments and stakeholders to ensure timely project execution.

• Communication & Negotiation Skills:
  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  Ability to interact with clients and suppliers in a professional and clear manner. Skilled in presenting technical information in a non-technical format.

• Attention to Detail:
  High level of precision in cost estimation and design, ensuring no details are overlooked.

• Knowledge of Local Regulations:
  In-depth understanding of the solar energy regulations and incentives in Bahrain.

Education & Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.

• Certification in solar energy systems, estimation, or project management is a plus (e.g., NABCEP, PMP, etc.).

Experience:

• At least 5 years of experience in solar estimation, design, or project management in the renewable energy sector.
