Senior Accountant (Bahrain)
A leading company in the Kingdom of Bahrain is seeking a Senior Accountant.
Job Responsibilities:
Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable transactions.
Supervise day-to-day accounting transactions and produce error-free reports as required by management.
Identify weaknesses in systems & procedures, and suggest improvements to enhance internal controls and mitigate errors.
Prepare journal vouchers and reconcile with the general ledger.
Schedule payments to suppliers and verify supplier payments.
Assist Accounts Manager in improving accounting systems and procedures.
Supervise accounting assistants and guide them on day-to-day work.
Assist the Accounts Manager with month-end and year-end closing and reporting.
Assist in preparing the yearly budget and periodical review of actual vs. budget.
Monitor and reconcile staff-related payments and recoveries.
Oversee petty cash functions and ensure adequate cash balances within business units.
Assist with monthly VAT returns.
Coordinate with the internal audit team to complete internal audits.
Support the management team on finance-related matters.
Ensure correct recording of VAT input and discharge of VAT liability, and submission of VAT-related information.
Qualification & Experience:
Minimum 5-6 years of relevant experience as a Senior Accountant.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Must be a go-getter and an effective team player, capable of managing team members and solving problems proactively.
An Accounting Degree or equivalent is required for this position.
Good knowledge of Bahrain VAT filing and preparation of the yearly balance sheet.
