Duties and Responsibilities:

UN-Habitat, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities. It serves as the focal point for all urbanization and human settlement matters within the UN system.

Background: The UN-Habitat Country Programme in Bahrain supports the Government’s efforts to achieve sustainable urbanization and leverage cities as hubs of opportunities, inclusion, and wellbeing for all. UN-Habitat’s portfolio in Bahrain is increasingly aligned with the climate agenda, focusing on urban sustainability.

INTERN - UNIC MANAMA (Position for Manama)

Job Title: Internship – Content Creation and Social Media Support

Location: Flexible (In-person and Remotely)

Expected Duration: 3 to 6 months

Duties and Responsibilities:

This internship is designed to be remote and part-time (<34 hours), but the schedule can be adjusted based on the request of the successful candidate. The responsibilities will vary depending on the individual's background, the assigned office, and the duration of the internship. The key duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Supporting content creation for the United Nations Information Centre’s (UNIC) online platforms, including social media accounts.
• Assisting in monitoring and moderating the UNIC's online platforms and implementing social media campaigns.
• Helping with the design, production, and dissemination of informational material.
• Assisting in the organization of events and meetings.

Qualifications and Special Skills:

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Information Centre, the following conditions must be met:

• Education:
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
• Skills:
  • Proficiency in standard software applications.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in content creation, social media management, and communication strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently in a flexible, virtual work environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to support event and meeting organization.

• المهارات:
  • إجادة استخدام تطبيقات البرمجيات القياسية.
  • اهتمام أو خبرة في إنشاء المحتوى، إدارة وسائل الإعلام الاجتماعية، واستراتيجيات التواصل.
  • القدرة على العمل بفعالية واستقلالية في بيئة عمل مرنة وعمل عن بُعد.
