About the Job
The Claims Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of construction contractor claims within an Architectural and Engineering consultancy firm. This includes analyzing, preparing, and responding to contractual claim letters from contractors, as well as developing and submitting counterclaims on behalf of the employer. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction contracts and claims management principles, along with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Construction Management, or related field) or a Law degree with a focus on construction law.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in construction claims management, preferably in a consultancy or contracting environment.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., FIDIC, JCT, MoW) and their legal interpretation.
- Proven ability to analyze complex construction claims and develop effective strategies for resolution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical and legal issues.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with claims management software is a plus.
- Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, RICS) are desirable.
