Senior Backend Engineer Position

Location: Europe, Middle East, and Africa (Remote)
Job Type: Full-Time, Mid-Senior Level
Required Skills: Apache Kafka, Backend Network Development, Golang, and other advanced software engineering skills

Job Overview:
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Typeform, you will contribute code to microservices written in GoLang, utilize HTTP for inter-process communications (IPC), and implement Kafka or SNS/SQS as middleware. You will work closely with the Product Team to ensure engineering excellence by creating beautiful, secure features and functionalities for our customers that enhance their experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute code to projects requiring backend work (in Golang).
• Improve existing code bases to be more scalable and reliable.
• Respond to monitoring alerts and troubleshoot accordingly to resolve issues.
• Propose solutions to code or architectural problems in a high-traffic environment.
• Conduct Root-Cause-Analysis (RCA) and contribute to postmortems for incidents.
• Help and train peers in the team.
• Be part of the on-call rota to react to any alerts raised by the monitoring system outside office hours.

Requirements:

• University degree in a related field.
• Experience in high-traffic distributed architecture.
• Experience writing architectural documentation.
• Expertise in core technologies: GoLang, cloud providers, and messaging systems.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills.

Extra Awesome:

• Experience working in a remote company or a startup.
• Previous experience with Kafka, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Elasticsearch.
