Sr Engineering Manager
About The Role
- At Grafana Labs, our department builds products to make it easy to detect, respond and learn from incidents with minimal toil. Our products are built on top of Grafana's open-source observability platform, integrating alerting, slos, on-call, and incident management. We are looking for an Engineering Manager to help us grow and develop our Incident Response Management platform. This platform includes both OnCall response and Incident resolution collaboration solutions. Our managers take an active role in creating a healthy and productive environment for our engineers. They are expected to guide cross-team collaboration, tune team practices, facilitate communication, resolve blockers, and coach each team member in their development. As we grow, we’re aiming to improve our performance, increase our reliability, and delight our users every step of the way.
Requirements
- The core focus of the role is on people management, but you should have enough technical skills/understanding of our stack to manage a highly technical team/product.
- You will act as an execution leader and work with your peers and Grafana Product & UX teams to ensure the roadmap is defined and up-to-date
- You have a strong technical background and are capable of engaging in technical conversations and challenging teams to arrive at strong technical decisions themselves
- You will be comfortable working with engineering teams who have a strong sense of autonomy in their decision-making, be it technical or product-focussed
- While you’re great with people and adept at managing relationships, you still keep up-to-date with technical trends and shifts to understand better the challenges ahead
- Ideally, you will have a Computer Science degree or equivalent experience and have worked as a software engineer before moving into management
- Familiarity with public Cloud and SRE/DevOps concepts & struggles would be a strong advantage
Product Manager
About the job
This is a remote position and we're considering candidates in Spain.
- As a Product Manager at Grafana Labs, you'll develop a vision and strategy for your product domain. You will own your product’s roadmap, collateral, and market research, and you will collaborate with Grafana leadership on fine-tuning your product’s goals. You will be the primary advocate and expert in your area, with a strong ability to communicate needs, functionality, and details effectively both to external customers and internal stakeholders. The teams and people you will be interacting with will be 100% remote and globally distributed, so clear and proactive communication is essential.
- Product Managers are the bridge that connect R&D to our go-to-market team and customers. We are facilitators who ensure the free flow of information across these teams and are expected to be technically proficient when representing our products to our customers.
The Role
- Grafana’s foundational value proposition is that you can use it to visualize and act on your data, wherever it lives. We accomplish this with hundreds of data sources - plugins that allow users to query, visualize, and alert on data directly from tools like Prometheus, Elasticsearch, CloudWatch, and Postgres. Many data sources are authored outside of Grafana Labs, but we build and maintain a core set used by millions of users.

What We Are Looking For
- Our ideal candidate would be an experienced technical communicator who wants to improve Grafana OSS and loves participating in open source communities. We're looking for someone who is excited about teaching, and engaging with the world in person, on online forums and in social media. If this sounds like you and you stay on top of what's happening in Grafana, observability, telemetry, or distributed systems, we should talk. We strongly encourage under-represented groups to apply.
- As a Developer Advocate, you are a technologist first, and will help teach developers, SREs, administrators and others how to build with Grafana. That starts with things like dashboards, but goes much deeper into APIs, plugins, any kind of data that helps us understand complex systems and how they function. You will participate in events, author content, appear in videos, and many other programs. A big plus for us is if you already participate meaningfully in open source communities such as Kubernetes, Prometheus, or the wider CNCF.
