What’s The Opportunity
- At Deel our Global Payroll product is expanding at an astounding pace, already live in more than 90 markets. The role of Payroll & Tax Architect for the EMEA region will oversee the integration and adherence of our payroll and tax systems to the varied regulations across EMEA. In this role, you and your team will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of our payroll product, ensuring that every process is in line with the latest legal requirements. Your expertise will be key in guiding our product management team through the complexities of legal and compliance issues during the development of our payroll solutions, ensuring our customers can rely on a product that is not only compliant but also user-friendly. Your insights and validations will give our customers the confidence they need in our product's compliance and usability.
- Your role as the Director of Product Compliance will be pivotal in bridging the gap between engineering, product, design and our internal compliance partners. With your seasoned experience in product compliance and development, particularly in designing features and platforms that comply with multi-country payroll regulations, you will lead the way in ensuring our systems are up-to-date with legislative changes within the EMEA region. Your role involves comprehensive stakeholder engagement, ranging from internal team collaborations to external partnerships, ensuring all compliance information is accurately communicated and implemented. You will be the driving force in not only ensuring that our payroll systems meet the current compliance standards but also in foreseeing and adapting to the evolving needs of our diverse customer base, making sure our payroll solutions remain at the forefront of efficiency, compliance, and user satisfaction.
What You Will Do
- Oversee payroll and tax compliance with EMEA regulations, ensuring all processes align with legal requirements.
- Build a small team of experts to ensure coverage across critical EMEA jurisdictions, aligned with our product strategy
- Support the Product Management team by providing insights and guidance on legal and compliance issues during payroll engine development.
- Keep abreast of legislative changes in payroll and tax laws within the EMEA region, and advise on necessary updates to the payroll systems.
- Act as a liaison between engineering, product, design and compliance teams, facilitating effective integration of tax and compliance requirements.
- Identify potential compliance risks in payroll processes and suggest preventive or corrective actions.
- Review and approve payroll system process architectures and designs to ensure they meet compliance standards.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders and external partners, such as legal advisors, to gather and disseminate relevant compliance information.
- Educate product and development teams on specific compliance requirements and best practices in the EMEA payroll context.
- Maintain detailed records of compliance checks, decisions, and advice provided, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Regularly review and recommend improvements to payroll systems and processes to enhance compliance, efficiency, and user experience.
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of Product Compliance experience supporting the design, build and implementation of a multi-region Payroll Solution
- Minimum 3 years experience working in a high-growth scale up environment, a high level of resilience and comfort with a significant level of ambiguity
- Independent and autonomous leader
- Understanding of Agile Principles and an interactive product development process
- Understanding of both UX and UI
- Strong financial acumen, having built B2B financial products at scale
- Experience building managing a team of payroll experts distributed across a wide range of complex topics in different regions
