Job Title: Factory Accountant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Factory Accountant to join our bakery manufacturing business in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Factory Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all accounting matters within the factory, with a focus on production-related activities. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting:
- Support the CFO in the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, providing relevant data and insights related to the factory's production activities, production costs, inventory valuation, and variances analysis.
- Collaborate with the CFO to monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, material usage, waste reduction, and labor productivity.
- Identify areas of improvement and cost-saving opportunities through data analysis and provide recommendations to the CFO.
2. Cost Accounting:
- Develop and maintain a robust cost accounting system to track production costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
- Calculate and analyze product costs to ensure accurate pricing and profitability analysis.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies to optimize production costs.
3. Inventory Management:
- Implement and maintain an effective inventory management system, ensuring accurate recording of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory levels and provide recommendations for stock replenishment to avoid production delays.
4. Production Analysis:
- Work closely with production teams to gather data on production volumes, yields, and efficiencies.
- Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement, such as reducing waste, improving productivity, and optimizing resource allocation.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to enhance production performance.
5. Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with the management team to develop annual budgets and production forecasts.
- Monitor actual performance against budgeted targets and provide variance analysis reports.
- Assist in the preparation of financial projections for future growth and expansion plans.
6. Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal control procedures.
- Prepare and facilitate audits, providing necessary documentation and supporting schedules.
- Address audit findings and implement corrective actions as required.
7. Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, sales, and human resources, to ensure accurate and timely financial information exchange.
- Provide financial insights and support for decision-making processes, including new product development, pricing strategies, and cost control initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, cost accounting, and inventory management.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of accounting standards and tax regulations is an advantage.
