Under general guidance of the Facilities Manager, this position provides supervision for the staff
handling repairs for the facility, including port buildings, camp buildings, electro-mechanical
installations, and other structures. Also, this position should be able to develop and implement utility
plans, perform system evaluations, and establish operational efficiency. A top-notch facilities supervisor
should have excellent project management skills and strong knowledge of structural requirements.
Positions Reporting to this Position: Facility Technician, Painter, Carpenter, Plumber and other such
trade skill staff as employed when required.
Ensures that the facilities are maintained and repaired in a cost-effective manner, with consideration
given to quality and customer service.
Supervises the maintenance and repair of all of the port and camp buildings, handling electricity,
plumbing, painting, air conditioning.
Prepares work orders and scope of works for repairs, gets estimates for the cost of the work, and
assigns appropriate staff to do the work.
Prepares manpower plans for the week.
Conducts regular inspections of buildings, parking lots and other structures.
Supervises any sub-contractors that are working on specific projects, related to repair.
Ensures appropriate records for maintenance are maintained, including job cards and equipment history cards.
Monitors and controls the supply of materials.
Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future
maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
Prepares sketches showing location or wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints,
ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
Provides supervision and direction for the maintenance staff including the following:.
Provides direction and instruction to subordinate staff, providing regular feedback and regular appraisals.
Counsels subordinates, up to and including discipline or termination recommendations.
Follows company management policies and procedures in the application of managing subordinates.
Provides complete and accurate reports to management, as needed.
Performs any other related activities, as requested.
Observe provisions of the labor regulations, relevant HSSE policy & procedures, terminal rules & procedures and contribute to the continual improvement process.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering & additional vocational/technical education consisting of building trades, such as electrical, mechanical, construction, civil engineering, air conditioning, and the like.
Specialized Knowledge:
Requires specific technical knowledge of maintenance and repair of buildings and surroundings, including carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, and building trades, in general.
Must be able to interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications.
Must have knowledge of general supervisory principles..
Must have a working knowledge of supervisory and leadership principles, with the ability to influence other team members in a positive way and lead a department of individuals.
Skills:
Must be able to demonstrate leadership and influencing skills.
Must be able to exercise good judgment in order to set priorities.
Requires excellent supervisory skills, including planning, organizing, and directing work.
Must be customer service oriented, sensitive to the needs of the departments and others.
Requires intermediate verbal and written communications skills in English, in addition to effective
interpersonal skills. Fluency in Arabic highly desirable.
Requires exceptional time management, due to fast-moving, demanding work environment.
Prefer to have 11 KV Safe Switching Practice License from EWA.
Prefer to have Engineer (Inst.) License from EWA.
Requires Bahraini driver’s license, with good driving record.
