Responsibilities

• The Deck Hand reports to the Master

• Contributes so the vessel is always available to be deployed in a safe and efficient manner as directed by the Master and in accordance with HMS policies/procedures and local legislation when applicable

• Perform all work tasks safely and seek guidance from the Master if in doubt

• Propose initiatives for raising onboard safety levels

• Active participation in safety training and drills onboard

• Perform operational duties including assisting with salvage jobs, workshop jobs ashore, or preparing equipment on shore/tow

• Perform maintenance and housekeeping duties on deck, in the engine room, or accommodation as instructed by the Master

Learning Descriptions / Knowledge and Qualifications

• II/4 - Nav Watch Rating - Unlimited

• Basic Safety Training (STCW A-VI/1)

• Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties A-VI/6

• Valid Seafarer Medical

Tugmaster

• Responsible for executing tug maintenance on board in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule and budget

• Maintenance and repair of marine plant and equipment

• Supervision of personnel undertaking and assisting in the engineering function

• Signing off on maintenance work completed

• Preparation of maintenance and operational reports as required

• Participation in safety training including training of other crew members

• Assisting other engineers as required

• Monitoring and review of occupational health and safety standards and procedures

• Ensuring day-to-day compliance with environmental regulations

• Participation in operational improvement exercises and liaison with SVITZER management regarding improved procedures

• Daily correct use and maintenance of all machinery, safety, and environmental protection equipment

• Proper keeping of Engine Logbook and Oil Record Book
