Position Title: Child Psychologist

Reports To: Education & Operations Director / Board of Governors

Role Overview

The Child Psychologist plays a central role in supporting the emotional, social, and cognitive development of learners at a new Academy. With a doctoral-level qualification (PhD) in psychology, the role combines clinical expertise, research-based practice, and educational collaboration to ensure every child has access to holistic support. The Child Psychologist also contributes to the unique Learning System by integrating mental health, wellness, and resilience into daily school life, aligning with the Fundamentals of Wellness, Growth, and Values.

Key Responsibilities

1. Student Support & Assessment

• Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations of learners to identify strengths, challenges, and needs.

• Provide one-to-one and group interventions for learners experiencing emotional, behavioural, or learning difficulties.

• Support students with issues such as anxiety, attention challenges, social skills, self-esteem, and stress management.

2. Collaboration with Staff & Parents

• Work closely with guides to integrate psychological insights into classroom strategies.

• Provide training and consultation to staff on child development, trauma-informed practices, and behaviour management.

• Engage parents and guardians with guidance, feedback, and workshops to strengthen home-school partnerships.

3. Preventative & Developmental Programs

• Design and implement school-wide wellness and resilience programs.

• Contribute to the learning systems projects by embedding themes of emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and personal growth.

• Lead group activities that enhance social-emotional learning (SEL) and peer relationships.

4. Research & Compliance

• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for internal use and regulatory compliance.

• Ensure adherence to ethical and professional standards in psychology.

• Stay updated with evidence-based interventions and current research in child psychology.

Qualifications & Skills

• PhD in Clinical, Educational, or Child Psychology (mandatory).

• Licensed or eligible for licensing in Bahrain (or international equivalent).

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in school or child-focused settings.

• Expertise in child development, assessment, and intervention strategies.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary educational environment.

• Cultural sensitivity and understanding of diverse learner backgrounds.

• Teaching Qualification is preferred.

• Must be fluent in English (Arabic is a plus).

• Must be able to join immediately.

نظرة عامة على الدور:

يقوم أخصائي علم نفس الأطفال بدور محوري في دعم التطور العاطفي والاجتماعي والمعرفي للمتعلمين في أكاديمية جديدة. يشترط الحصول على مؤهل دكتوراه (PhD) في علم النفس، حيث يجمع هذا الدور بين الخبرة السريرية والممارسة القائمة على البحث والتعاون التعليمي لضمان حصول كل طفل على دعم شامل. كما يساهم أخصائي علم النفس في نظام التعلم الفريد من خلال دمج الصحة النفسية والرفاهية والمرونة في الحياة المدرسية اليومية بما يتماشى مع أسس الرفاهية والنمو والقيم.

المسؤوليات الرئيسية:

1. دعم الطلاب والتقييم:

• إجراء التقييمات والاختبارات النفسية للمتعلمين لتحديد نقاط القوة والتحديات والاحتياجات.

• تقديم تدخلات فردية وجماعية للمتعلمين الذين يعانون من صعوبات عاطفية أو سلوكية أو تعليمية.

• دعم الطلاب في قضايا مثل القلق، مشاكل الانتباه، المهارات الاجتماعية، تقدير الذات، وإدارة الضغوط.

2. التعاون مع الموظفين وأولياء الأمور:

• العمل بشكل وثيق مع الموجهين لدمج الرؤى النفسية في استراتيجيات الصف.

• تقديم تدريب واستشارات للموظفين حول نمو الطفل، الممارسات الحساسة للصدمات، وإدارة السلوك.

• إشراك أولياء الأمور والأوصياء من خلال التوجيه، التغذية الراجعة، وورش العمل لتعزيز الشراكة بين المنزل والمدرسة.

3. البرامج الوقائية والتنموية:

• تصميم وتنفيذ برامج شاملة للصحة النفسية والمرونة على مستوى المدرسة.

• القدرة على العمل بشكل تعاوني في بيئة تعليمية متعددة التخصصات.
