The Speech and Language Pathologist is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with speech, language, voice, communication, and swallowing disorders. The role plays a vital part in supporting long-term care patients, including those with neurological, developmental, and acquired conditions, to maximize their functional communication and swallowing abilities, thereby enhancing their quality of life.
Responsibilities

Assess and diagnose communication, speech, language, and swallowing disorders across all age groups; conduct bedside and instrumental swallowing assessments.

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, goals, and medical conditions; deliver evidence-based therapy for communication difficulties (e.g., aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia, stuttering, voice disorders) and manage dysphagia.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (physicians, nurses, therapists, dietitians, psychologists) to ensure comprehensive care; participate in case conferences, family meetings, and care planning.

Educate and counsel patients, families, and caregivers on therapy goals, home programs, and communication strategies; support training of nursing staff and caregivers in managing communication and swallowing issues.

Occupational Therapist
Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine functional limitations, abilities, and treatment needs; develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Provide therapeutic interventions to improve mobility, coordination, self-care, and vocational skills; recommend, prescribe, and train patients in adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications.

Qualifications
