Bonus is for full time employees and paid out according to training schedule.
This role is a Community-Based Position
Position Requirements:
North Carolina Certified as a Peer Support Specialist or 1 continuous year as a current or former recipient of treatment (including mental health/substance abuse treatment or diagnosis) and eligibility for certification as Peer Support Specialist by the governing agency
An individual who holds a license, provisional license, certificate, registration or permit issued by the governing board regulating a human service profession, except a registered nurse who is licensed to practice in the State of North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing who also has four years of full-time accumulated experience in MH/DD/SA with the population served; the QP function may be completed by a Certified Clinical Addiction Specialist (CCAS) or Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS)
OR
a graduate of a college or university with a Master’s degree in a human service field and has one year of full-time post-graduate degree accumulated MH/DD/SA experience with the population served;
OR
a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a human service field with two years of full-time, post-bachelor’s degree accumulated MH/DD/SA experience with the population served;
OR
A graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a field other than human services with four years of full-time, post-bachelor’s degree accumulated MH/DD/SA experience with the population served. Must meet the education, experience, licensure/certification requirements specified by the service definition of the service being provided
General working knowledge of the human services delivery system in North Carolina
Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable transportation
Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
Ability to lift between 20 and 50 pounds and meet the physical requirements of performing CPR and therapeutic holds
Employee supervisory experience preferred
Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred
Responsibilities:
Works closely with peer support and clinical/professional staff to maintain communication and provide feedback, standardize procedures and expedite In-Reach functions.
Provides employees with individual-specific training and training in the knowledge, skills, and abilities required by the population and age to be served as well as In-Reach functions.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and applying corrective action to employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Provides required supervision to peer support staff assign to their team
Provide essential expertise and consultation to the entire interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote a culture in which each individual’s point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected and integrated into treatment, rehabilitation, and community self-help activities while serving as an advocate for clients.
Engage, educate and support efforts designed to accurately and fully inform individuals who have a serious mental health (SMI) or a serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI) about community based mental health services, individual placement, supported employment and supported housing options. This includes but not limited to the availability of tenancy support services and rental assistance.
Meeting with individuals in Adult Care Homes, who are interested in living in the community.
Meeting individuals who have been recently discharged from a State Psychiatric Hospital and who are homeless or have unstable housing and who may or may not be eligible for an additional resource known as TCLI.
Meeting with individuals to divert them from entry to an adult care home pursuant to the pre-admission screening and diversion provisions established by the State.
Knowledgeable on community resources that includes: mental health/substance abuse providers, local health departments/clinics/employment/vocational and other levels of education as a resource so individuals can be linked to those services as appropriate.
Position is required to complete all initial and annual training indicated by NC DHB Clinical Coverage Policy 8G, Motivational Interviewing, and required In-Reach training including use of Trillium’s Software Platform, Transition to Community Living Database (TCLD) and NC Tracks platform.
