POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Amideast’s Education Abroad department is seeking a part-time (average 30-35 hours/week) Arabic language education specialist for a term of approximately six (6) months (with possibility of renewal) with expertise in Arabic language pedagogy and familiarity with online course design principles to build Arabic and area studies course templates. The Specialist is responsible for reviewing existing and creating new curriculum and instructional materials for Amideast’s summer Arabic language courses. This can include developing lesson plans, creating activities and exercises, selecting texts and materials, and determining the scope and sequence of the courses. The Specialist will work closely with the eLearning Manager and may coordinate with instructors in the Education Abroad program who will be teaching the courses. Additionally, the specialist is responsible for evaluating and assessing the effectiveness of the courses and adjusting as necessary. Other responsibilities include ensuring that the course design reflects best practices and is aligned with educational standards, and reviewing courses to ensure adherence with Accessibility standards. Preference will be given to applicants from countries in the MENA region where Amideast operates. Candidate needs to have the ability to work remotely with staff in the U.S. and in the MENA region.
