Role Summary
The VMware & Active Directory L2 Support Engineer provides advanced operational support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for virtual infrastructure and Microsoft Active Directory environments. The role includes incident resolution, problem management, change execution, and coordination with L1, L3, and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities (VMware L2)
- Administer and support VMware vSphere environment (ESXi, vCenter).
- Perform VM provisioning, cloning, snapshots, and resource resizing (CPU, RAM, disk).
- Troubleshoot VM performance, host, and datastore issues.
- Manage vMotion, DRS, HA, and capacity monitoring.
- Handle datastore management (VMFS, NFS) and space monitoring.
- Support ESXi host and vCenter patching and upgrades as per SOPs.
- Monitor VMware alerts and respond to system events.
- Execute planned maintenance activities and system changes.
- Assist in backup and restore operations (Veeam / Commvault basic level).
- Coordinate with storage, backup, and network teams for issue resolution.
- Escalate complex issues to L3 or OEM vendors with full analysis.
