We hiring Technical Director - Civil Infrastructure in bahrain


The Technical Director is a recognised technical expert providing technical engineering leadership for a discipline or area of responsibility. 

Leads technical client relationships and plays a major role in the selling of our services. 

Proactively identifying opportunities to support the overall growth of the discipline area and the Civil Infrastructure Business Line. 

Is considered an expert in their field of engineering.


Job Duties


+ Acts as the Company representative for all day-to-day Contract matters with the Client during the program/project execution. Negotiates changes to the scope of work with the client and contractors. Responsible for following up on instructions & commitments associated with the project.


+ Works collaboratively to make autonomous decisions in line with technical procedures in support of the business strategy.


+ Plans and develops novel technical concepts and approaches, providing high-level technical expertise in terms of quantity, quality and cost to assess whether targets have been achieved and determine where improvements and efficiencies can be achieved.


+ May manage other managers or lead extensive technical efforts by delegating work and directing less experienced staff to complete assignments.


+ Directs and oversees the technical strategy to address complex technical projects.


+ Responsible for technically leading aspects of projects, supporting Project Managers and Technical Leads to deliver within scope, budget, timeframe, and high-quality standards.


+ Engages with project technical teams within a field of expertise to confirm project approach and review deliverables.


+ Shares knowledge with GDC and other areas to develop technical skills.


+ Provides technical leadership and direction through managers and professional staff and leads efforts to grow company technical expertise.


+ Participates in the process related to recruitment, technical interviews, and evaluation of prospective employees. 

Actively participates in and promotes the Quality Improvement Program.


+ Heads a technical committee within the discipline, striving to motivate and educate the assigned personnel. Facilitates the coordination with Authorities for approvals of schemes along with the Area Leads.


+ Applies advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.


+ Makes decisions independently on technical problems and methods and represents AECOM in conferences.


+ Has full responsibility for interpreting, organising, executing and coordinating assignments and managing technical elements of large, complex projects. Internal and external subject matter expert on specific complex technical solutions or processes.


+ Responsible for acting independently on technical matters about the field and demonstrates innovation to deliver technical excellence.


+ Performs technical quality reviews, including documentation in project record following policies and procedures.


+ Serves as Lead Verifier on large and or complex projects confirming that the technical approach satisfies the client scope of services and expectations.


+ Approves and signs off on work- regularly reviews/audits projects to ensure appropriate technical quality activities are implemented to prevent rework.


+ Performs independent expert review of high-risk project proposals and deliverables.


+ Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures.


+ Develops and maintains excellent relationships with the local authority technical departments. Creates and manages the intellectual property.


+ Responsible for developing a robust technical network within AECOM globally to provide clients with the most appropriate technical solutions and is part of the global technical practice teams.


+ Promotes discipline staff to write technical papers for publication or presentation at conferences.


+ Supports the Regional Leads on all related technical activities and offers technical support across other MEA


+ Participates in preparing major bids and proposals on the technical side.


+ Attends bid interviews and presentations showcasing AECOM technical capability in their field of expertise.


+ Supports business development initiatives through their technical expertise.


+ Identifies potential clients and work and collaborates with client managers to win work.


+ Maintains regular contact with clients to identify pre-released opportunities.


+ Has the knowledge and expertise required for this work level, which usually results from progressive experience in a specific discipline.


+ Markets AECOM’s technical excellence in the relevant industry by attending conferences, publishing technical papers.


+ Ensures assigned teams effectively coordinate with the other disciplines to ensure there are no design gaps providing fully coordinated design deliverables. This includes the support of the construction supervision teams.


Specific Skills Required


+ Good working knowledge of the Middle East, and in particular KSA and Bahain, construction industry practices/safety/quality management systems. Good knowledge of design processes and systems.


+ Experience in Roads and Infrastructure projects in the Middle East.


+ Thorough knowledge of current technology; must be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project.


+ High level of critical thinking, numerical and literacy skills in English.


+ Good negotiation skills.


+ Ability to work in a matrix organization.


+ Clear verbal communication skills.


+ High level of computer literacy.

Experience


+ Minimum 20+ years of related work experience, a broad general engineering background, and previous Middle East design and construction management experience on similar or related project types is required


Qualifications


+ Bachelor of Science or Engineering from an accredited University, Master of Science / Engineering or PhD preferred


+ CEng, PE or equivalent licensing/registration as a professional engineer is required, together with fellowship from a professional institution.


+ Relevant registration required in Bahrain


+ Member of a professional or technical society preferred.
